  1. Cowai??i??s milk:Ai??Besides a child being intolerant or sensitive to lactose, cowai??i??s milk also triggers food allergy due to the presence of casein, a protein in milk. In such cases a child may develop an allergy to all milk products such as yogurt, cheese, whey, butter, etc., and these foods should not be allowed. But, the lactose-intolerant children may be able to consume yogurt.
  2. Peanuts:Ai??This is the most common type of allergy-inducing food. Kids with a family background of allergies must not be given peanut products or peanuts until 3 years of age or older. Unlike some of the other allergies, the peanut allergy can also be life-threatening.
  3. Wheat:Ai??Some kids can develop an allergy to proteins (especially gluten) in wheat or may be sensitive to wheat. An adverse reaction can be seen in children who are gluten intolerant. Some of the gluten containing grains includes rye, oats, wheat and barley and this is also known as Celiac disease. Some nutritionists say that over-enthusiasm for dietary fiber and whole-wheat grains have contributed to a greater risk of this allergy in recent years.
  4. Fish:Ai??Fish allergies are more common among children. Unlike some others, fish allergy is not so often outgrown. But, these symptoms worsen on repeated exposure. The problem is due to the protein in the fish, but sometimes even the gelatin (which is made with fish skin and bones) can also induce a food allergy.
  5. Tree nuts:Ai??Some kids may also have an allergy to tree nuts such as chestnut, cashew, almond, walnut, hazelnut, etc. Doctors recommend that individuals with allergies should stay away from these nuts.
  6. Soy:Ai??Soybeans are legumes and those individuals who are allergic to soy may need to be aware of other legumes, such as chickpeas, green peas and all beans. Many processed foods include soy, so be careful and read the food labels properly.
  7. Eggs:Ai??Kids with egg allergy may outgrow it as they grow. It has been noticed that about 80% of kids have outgrown egg allergy by 5 years of age. The allergenic proteins of egg are mostly present in albumin (egg white), but some are present in the yolk. Proteins are denatured by cooking, so the egg allergic individuals can eat eggs which are well-cooked but not soft-cooked or raw eggs.
