Gone are the days of scribbling and drawing abstract images, its time to pen-down a good curved handwriting on paper.
Some kids love writing and they make an effort to move the pen round and curve making the handwriting look beautiful. While some kids hate to write because they are scared of getting scoldings from their teacher.
Some kids make an habit of putting down good handwriting, while others find it difficult to move the pen neatly. The reasons for bad handwriting are many: lack of concentration, shivering, body movements, and lack of interest are few to figure out.
How Handwriting Works:
To improve one’s handwriting, the body and mind need to perform different things in the right manner. The shoulder should be steady, while the elbow and wrist move in the order. your eyes have to follow what your hand is writing. As it gives you a picture of alphabets and letters and helps you to move your hand in the shape of the letters.
Four Steps to Improve Handwriting
Get a Great Grasp: The art of good handwriting comes from the style of holding a pencil or pen. Holding a pencil at the top leads to shabby handwriting. The proper way of holding a pencil is to rest the pencil at the end of the index finger. Hold it near the pointer with the index, middle finger and the thumb. As shown in the picture.
Let the Lines Be Your Guide
Single ruled books helps you in creating letters that are in proportion and fit the exact size. lined pages helps you in writing straight instead of downhill or uphill. There are also lot of cursive handwriting books available in the market, with which the kids can practice a lot of running handwriting.
Slow down
Do not write your notes in hurry, and do not over write and erase the sentences. slowing down can solve the problem of shabby writing.
Play Games
Play games that involve lot of drawing and writing, eg: Don’t Spill the Beans or Jenga. The skills that you use in the game will help you control your pen/pencil over writing.
