If the baby seems to be healthy and continues to gain weight then it is normal and there is no need to worry as the vomiting seems to subside six to twenty-four hours after it starts.
Abnormal vomiting can be seen by a sudden onset of vomiting often accompanied by diarrhoea. This is caused by stomach virus and the infection of the stomach is called gastroenteritis. Here the vomiting lasts for more than eight hours and the child vomits with great force.
