We all have to take decisions at every stage in our lives. It is not so easy doing so, but we have to. Some people are adept at taking decisions, others find it difficult to do so. Those who find it easy and comfortable to take decisions are quite successful in their professional and personal lives.
Children need to be taught how to take decisions. It is better to start early, as it will be easier for them to take decisions once they grow up. Here are some ways that can help you in developing decision-making skills in children.
How a Child Can Decide?
- Children should be protected from snap decisions they make. They should be checked when they are being impulsive
- Parents should make the child think before he or she acts
- Children should be made aware of the consequences of their decision
- It is necessary for the child to realize that peer pressure should not influence his or her decision
- The child should be made aware of his or her options, while making a decision
- Children should know that their decisions do affect others. They are not taken in isolation
- Decisions should be beneficial to them as well as to others
- The child should understand what decision is in his or her best interest and accordingly take it
- One should also learn to take decisions quickly and effectively, by weighing the pros and cons of the issue on hand
- Decisions should be taken independently
- One can visualize hypothetical situations before taking a decision
Decisions are difficult to be taken no doubt. One can develop the art of taking decisions. Starting from childhood, one should master the technique of taking the correct decisions or at least learn to cope up with one’s decisions.
