Children spend a lot of time in front of the computer. Apart from gaining knowledge, they also enjoy the computer games. In fact, much of their time goes in such entertainment. Parents have to often regulate such viewing to ensure that the child spends adequate time browsing for knowledge enhancing information.
Computer games are not all that bad for a child. They can be beneficial in many ways. How?

- Listening skills can be improved upon. There are games, which teach children to identify sounds
- Language abilities improve
- Eye-hand coordination also improves
- A game is tailored according to abilities of the child
- They are full of fun and entertainment
- The content is kid friendly
- Can be enjoyed by people of all ages
- They have become a part of school education and play activities
- They help children to build up a successful future·
- They provide relief from the boredom of doing one’s homework. It can be a good reward for children to complete their homework on time
- A very interesting indoor activity, particularly on a rainy day
- It is favorite leisure activity among children
- Better peer group relationships. Friends get-together and play these games
- They can divert the minds of children who are undergoing treatment that is painful. The patients who played these computer games had less nausea and low blood pressure as compared to those who were simply asked to rest
- Social skills can developed through them
Computer games need not worry parents as they do benefit the child. No doubt, anything in excess is bad. Children love to play computer games once they are free from school work. It is recreation time for them!
