Tips to Ensure a Safe Environment For the Child
- Ensure that the baby sitter takes good care that the child is not anywhere near the stairs. The chances of the child falling down are there. Make sure that the safety gates of the staircase are up to the safety standards. The gates should be fastened to the wall
- Also ensure that the caretaker of the baby does ensure that the baby does not place his or hands in an electrical socket
- Make sure that the toys for adult child do not get into the hands of a younger child
- Make sure that objects, which can be swallowed by the child, are not lying around. The child might get choked.
- Bowls containing candies should not be in reachable distance. A child might get choked trying to swallow a candy
- Food should be cut into thin strips so that the child can eat comfortably. Even if the baby sitter has to feed the child, the food should be properly served
What More For The Child To Be Safe?
- The baby crib should be a safe place for the child to be in
- Medicines should not be lying around. They should be kept in a safe place, where the child cannot reach them
- Do not let sharp objects such as knives or cans lie around the place. The child may suffer from injuries while playing with them
- Ensure that the bathtub is a safe place to be in, in case the baby sitter decides to give the child a bath
- Make sure that the paint of the walls is not falling off. The child can eat the paint and suffer from lead poisoning
- Keep the house and pets clean so that the child does not suffer from allergies
- Store harmful products, such as disinfectants and detergents, in a place where the child cannot reach them
- Kitchen cabinets should be locked properly so that the child does not have access to things which he or she must keep away from
Parents do have a major responsibility to keep the home environment safe for the child. A child should be able to move around freely without having access to unwanted objects or being hurt by either falling down a staircase or placing fingers in an electrical socket. Child abuse is not permitted in many countries and the home also has to be a safe place for the child to live in.
