Diwali is a festival of lights that brings light into our lives. It is celebrated grandly in Hindu culture. But unfortunately every year during Diwali, there are reports of accidents, mishaps and health hazards particularly involving children. So this festival of lights should not bring darkness in your lives.
Children seem to be particularly vulnerable during Diwali since they are the ones who are more interested and enthusiastic about lighting firecrackers. So, it’s highly essential to educate your children about fireworks safety and how to avoid getting hurt from firecrackers and sparklers, which are a large part of this festival.
Following are some important tips on how to care your children during Diwali
- Children playing with fireworks may sustain burns and end up in hospitals. So teach your children to follow the caution or warning written on the cracker packets indicating the method of firing and precautions to be taken.
- Crackers that emit a loud sound, which causes serious problems to both children’s ears and health like nervous disorder, should be strictly avoided.
- Give your children noiseless crackers if you can, which are just as enjoyable and as well as delightful to the eyes.
- Parents should also join the children when they play with crackers, so that they can keep a strict watch on the children
- Advise your children to maintain a safe distance from the crackers and to light crackers in open spaces only.
- Do not allow your children to keep fireworks in their pockets, and keep them out of their reach.
- Ensure that your children do not throw lighted crackers or sparklers at others.
