Some parents believe that all the education takes place at schools and all they need to do at home is to help them with homework. That is of course important. But you need to teach your kids social skills too along with academic skills.
Social skills go a long way building your child’s personality. These skills would do wonders your children.
- When your child learns to talk, you could teach him how to greet others. Just like say ‘Hi’ or ‘Hello’.
- When he gets a little older, say about 2-3 yrs, teach him how to shake hands.
- Teach him how to make eye contact with people.
- Teach him how to say his or her name loudly and clearly. If your child goes to school teach him/her the name of the school and which grade he studies in.
- Teach your child to make friendly statements like “Nice to meet you”, “Thank you very much”, “Have a nice day”.
- Teach your child to smile and be pleasant.
- Teach him to interact and ask the other person questions like “what is your name?”.
