  1. We don’t visit the Dentist unless the tooth starts decaying, that’s the wrong approach. Get your child a regular dental check up from the time he gets his first tooth. This will help the dentist diagnose dental problems like dental cavities, congenital anomalies like cleft palate, cleft lip and malpositioning of teeth at a very early age.
  2. Circular scrubbing of teeth with soft angulated brush that has a small head is most advisable. Make it a habit to brush your teeth at least twice a day.
  3. Use fluoride enriched toothpaste, rinses, mouthwash etc.
  4. Get the deep pits and grooves in the teeth filled with restorative materials to prevent the onset of dental decay.
  5. Maintain a low fat, moderate carbohydrate fibre rich diet to prevent tooth decay.
  6. Prevent your kid from snacking between meals.
  7. Prevent your kid from exposing his teeth to sugar more than five times a day including meals.
  8. Avoid consumption of water and foods that are high in fluoride content.
  9. Avoid sweet foods especially before going to bed.
  10. Visit a dentist, at least once in 3 months.
