One best way to make your child love the nature is to make him/her eco-friendly. To start with you can plan a eco-friendly birthday party for him/her. The key is to combine green values with party themes that kids love.
Here are some tips on hosting a meaningful birthday party packed with fun.
- Make it a theme party and name it according to your child’s best animal’s/bird’s/plant’s etc name. Let your child choose the theme
- Gift him/her a plant and ask him/her to take care of it regularly.
- Hold your party at a local organic farm, nature center or a city park to help children learn about caring for the natural environment. Get kids up and moving with an activity such as planting a tree (check your parks department to see if they have a plant-a-tree program) or apple picking. Even if the party is at home, try to make it green by decorating it with indoor plants.
- Ask the guests not to bring plastic items and carry bags. Instead you can ask them ti get paints, paintbrushes, crayons, coloring books, a nice bag for swimming kit or ballet shoes, books, jigsaw puzzles. If the child is older and is willing to participate, you might consider asking other parents to make a donation to an environmental charity on his/her behalf.
- Depending on the ages of the children, you might include an eco-friendly activity in the party, like planting a tree in honor of the birthday child or going for a nature walk. Or stimulate their creativity by offering watercolor painting, providing a dressing-up box and encouraging them to dress-up, or providing homemade cupcakes for them to decorate with icing and sprinkles, chocolate chips etc
- Make your own party snacks like cupcakes, grated cheese sandwiches, fruit, and homemade dips with vegetable sticks, small squares of homemade pizza, cheese straws, fruit fool or chocolate dessert, garlic bread. For drinks you can try diluted organic fruit juice, or make lemonade or a nice fruity punch.
These are a few ways by which you can make your child love and care the nature.
