Organizing after school activities for kids can reduce the burden of parents to handle everything alone and at the same time, instills a sense of responsibility and discipline in children.
If your kids are aware of a routine homework to be done before dinner, they will themselves hurry to finish it in time and will be prompt enough to pack their bags before bed time. Routines thereby, make children independent.
Tips to manage your kids after school activities:
- Make a schedule for study on a two weeks basis which will give them time to play as well.
- Arrange for a carpool so that your child can interact with other kids on his or her way back from school.
- Try to prepare a schedule of activities after school but those that will not extend till late evening when the kid will be too exhausted to complete his or her homework or may be too sleepy to have dinner.
- Organize a family dinner every Sunday and make it imperative for all relatives to attend it. Your kids would be looking forward to having great fun at this occasion as they would meet up with other cousins as well.
- Ensure that the weekends are for rest and fun.
- Sort out your kids apprehensions of participating in a game or activity.
- Value your child’s free time and give him or her enough space to think and explore things for himself or herself.
- Keep all the video games and television aside and tickle your creativity to make things interesting for your child and you.
- Plan a family night out once in a week to enjoy the company of each other by catching up on a movie with popcorns, etc.
It is your responsibility as parents, to balance the passions and desires of your child along with homework and family life. Help them discover this world with confidence and learning.
