A child, weak in picking up language, is despair to its parents. Of course there are children who start speaking at a very early age but there are also children who do not speak for long. It is quite natural for the parents to get depressed by the poor show of their child regarding language.
Slow picking up of language is a common phenomenon among children. Every child cannot learn language in the same way. However, to know whether your child’s sluggishness is normal or it is a deficiency you need to enquire about certain things.
Some Things to Enquire:
- Whether there was any genetic disability of speaking in the family. If any of the parents had this problem in their childhood, the child would be prone to have the problem.
- Whether the child can form simple sentences at moments when it is exited and wants something even though it does not speak frequently. If it can then there is no problem with the child, otherwise it has some disability.
- Whether your child can identify sound and can communicate by pointing at things it wants.
If these problems are present in your child then you should immediately consult a doctor or take your child to a speech therapist. If these are not the case then there is no reason to worry.
Some Tips to help Your Toddler in Speaking:
- Read out aloud to your child and make it acquainted with the sounds of words.
- Encourage him to pretend things and make imaginary stories in his plays.
- Name the articles she points to.
- Appreciate with big applause if she utters a correct word.
- Give your child words for feelings. Help it out with the words specific to each mood such as anger, happiness, sadness etc.
- Ask him specific questions so that he answers in words and sentences.

My child age is 2 years. She talking some tone which is not properly pronounce. please advice.
