Baby sleep problem is a common problem for every parent. Every parent experiences difficulty with baby sleep patterns. It is very important for a parent to know what is a baby sleep pattern?
Here are some facts which will give you an understanding to the sleep patterns of a baby.
- Babies up to seven months may need night feeding, that’s why they wake up for a feed.
- After a span of seven months babies don’t need night feeding, except if the baby is unwell or during a hot night.
- Babies who are breast fed are more likely to wake up at night than those who are fed with bottles.
- New born babies sleep for about 14-20 hours a day and if the baby has had a good sleep during the day, he will stay awake at night. It is always seen that new born babies sleep mostly in the day time.
- A three month old baby sleeps for about 15 hours and a one year old sleeps for 13-14 hours usually at night.
- There might be a particular reason why your baby won’t sleep properly. It could be illness, boredom, pain, frustration, wet nappy, your baby is hungry, thirsty, tightly wrapped, having wind or some other cause.
- To help your baby sleep try rocking the baby.
- Taking the baby for a walk in a pram also helps.
- Try playing soft music or giving the baby a nice massage.
